Puebla, Mexico (Parte 8 Palacio Municipal and Tecali)

Here we are April 15th, you can feel Puebla excitingly gearing up for the Semana Santa.  Many processions are already taking place all over town.

A sad note:  this morning we were alerted that a fire had broken up at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.

today's supper is watermelon water and chicken tacos with cheese 😋

Nopales  salad

Amongst other dishes for lunch, there was a fresh Nopales salad.  It is a prepared from the Nopal cactus, very tasty!

On the afternoon of April 16th, Gabriela and me visited the Palacio Municipal de Puebla.  The City is currently celebrating it's 488 year.  We were treated to a very nice orchestra before continuing on throughout the Palace.

Gabriela and me then went to a restaurant/bar next door, for a drink and to enjoy the view of the Cathedral.

Lunch today was tacos dorados de papa. Another yummy taste bud experience!

Another afternoon excursion, this time to Tecali.

First, a visit to one of the many onyx and marble manufactures, for which Tecali is famous.  I saw many incredible sculptures.

Next, off to visit the ruins of a convent dating back to 1540.

And, finally, the essential visit to an amazing shop, Tellez

On the way home, we stopped for some very special drink:  Michelada, a Mexican cerveza with beer, lime juice, chili-based sauce, spices, tomato juice, and chili peppers served in a chilled, salt-rimmed glass.
