Going Squirrelly

Sunrise -  Dec 4th 2012  - from the deck

This past two weeks Marie and I have been busy working on our new bathroom downstairs, finalizing the electrical connections for the radiant floor and trying to install our Napoleon propane stove in the basement. We had the last of the appliances delivered - oven, microwave, dryer and fridge and went to the States to pick up our new sound system. Next week our 60-inch Samsung should be waiting for us at the border! In the meantime we had an uninvited guest - a flying squirrel somehow got into the house and entertained us for a few nights. A nocturnal creature that we never saw during the day he came out in the evening and scurried about the place or amazed us by launching himself from the mezzanine down into the kitchen. He  was a beautiful little thing with big eyes and tiny ears that seemed unafraid of us and just tried to make itself at home. We left the window open one night for him with some sunflower seeds to entice him to get out and he finally left us. We also had the remaining wood siding installed on the front of the house this past week as well and except for a few touch ups (mostly painting ) it is finished! The only thing left to do is put up the cedar posts to support the roof at the main entrance way. The weather has been great for this time of year and at the moment we only have a dusting of snow on the ground. The sunrises have been absolutely beautiful and certainly worth getting up early to see. This weekend will find us in Montreal to celebrate Marie's birthday with all the kids and then back to the mountain for awhile before Christmas is on us. Where has the autumn gone? gws
