Mexico City

File:Flag of Mexico.svg

This coming Sunday Marie and I head out to Pierre Elliot Trudeau airport for our flight to Mexico and "The City of the Gods,” one of the largest cities in the world and capital of the Mexican United States. We won't be alone as there are 16 million people just in the metropolitan area! For both of us it will be the first time there and now that we have a new extended Mexican family, it won't be our last! Here are some facts I found out about Mexico City that are hard to believe, even after living here in Canada's second largest city which we assume to be really big! -

Firms: 316,000 (80% of Mexican firms)
Daily trips within the City: 29.2 millon
Cars and buses:2.6 million
Hospitals:344
Hotel rooms: 25,000
Museums:161
Concert halls: 30
Art galleries:106

Wow!

Christina and Lara have already left, heading first to Florida for a few days before going on to Mexico. Phil and Fer left yesterday and are now enjoying the hospitality of Fernanda's family. We will meet up with everyone this weekend! I will be updating this blog while we are there and then later in Cancun during the wedding and while Marie and I are alone in Cozumel to bring in the New Year. In the meantime have a safe and peaceful Christmas. Come back often and join in on our adventures! ggws gws
