Day 1 and 2 Montreal/Mexico City

Marie and I arrived safely but tired and a  little dazed as we joined the thousands of jostling, noisy and frantic passengers laden down with luggage and Christmas gifts at  the airport in Mexico City. We had left very early that morning from Montreal, connecting in Atlanta and finally flying down through a brown haze to land in sun in Benito Juarez airport Mexico City. Cesar was there to meet us and got us quickly away from the teeming masses all trying to funnel through one security gate - there didn't seem to be any control or organization at all and even the security people seemed overwhemed! We sped  through the traffic clogged streets for an hour, Cesar using the horn every few minutes, as we dodged beat up VW taxis, crazy green buses laden with passengers, and seemingly a million cars at every intersection, to arrive at their lovely home in Tlalpan.

Then we were off to eat - something that we were to do often and at every opportunity! Cesar and Rosalia took us to a wonderfully traditional family restaurant called Arroyo, and to the accompaniement of a Mariachi band, beautiful colourful costumed ladies singing and lots of great food we met all the family and friends. The next morning we were off on a bus tour of the city, seeing some old ruins, beautiful churches, monuments to famous Mexican leaders, the art gallery and, of all things, a huge outdoor skating rink! Today we are off to the Archaeological Museum so come back to see some great photos and hear how our day went! gws
