Fall in Canada's Capital

Rich and I played tourist yesterday in Ottawa enjoying the changing colours on the leaves in the parks around the market and across from Parliament Hill. We strolled down along the canal with it's amazing lock system leading to the Ottawa River, then up to get a view of the Gatineau hills across the river. In a few more weeks the trees will be bare, the streets empty of tourists and locals alike. Soon the cold wind blowing down from the vast northern regions of Ontario and Quebec will sweep across the river and bring the first hint of what is to come.... Tomorrow we are off to Maine to do some shopping before returning to our spot on the mountain for a few days. I won't be blogging for three or four days but will be posting lots of pictures on our return so check this spot out next week. I just want to say hi to all those who have taken the time to visit - check out the map to see who you are! - and certainly feel free to leave any comments, good or bad. I am always interested in who you are and wonder what brought you here! To my friends and family I wish a safe and happy weekend and we'll meet again, same place, next week! gws
